• How can I get to the retreat site?

• What kind of sleeping accommodations does the retreat offer?

Dormitory-style lodging is included as part of the standard registration. Twin-size bunk beds are included. Bed linens and towels are not provided in dormitory-style lodging.

• What will the weather be like during the retreat at this time of the year?

Generally Dallas, Texas is hot in the summer. Please bring a hat and sunscreen. But please also remember to bring along a light jacket for outdoor activities in the cool evening.

• What is the dress code for the retreat?

Casual and appropriate (as we will be practicing alongside the monastic sangha)

• What do I need to bring to the retreat?

• Who can I contact if there's an emergency during the Retreat?

• Can I bring my partner, children or friends to the retreat?

All family members, children, and friends age 18 and over are welcome to attend the 2023 Retreat.

• I am only 17 years old but will turn 18 soon. Can I still register?

Due to liability issues, you must be 18 by the first day of the retreat, August 10, 2023, to attend.

• What is the Retreat of Awakening's cancellation policy and will I get my money refunded if I do not attend the retreat?

While we hope that you will not cancel after registration, we understand that extenuating circumstances may occur. 

1. 50% refundable: If cancelled by May 31st.

2. Nonrefundable: After May 31st, your registration fee will be used to fund the activities of the Retreat of Awakening. Thank you for your donation.

3. Fully Transferable up to August 1, 2023 :  Please let us know if you would like to transfer your registration to another person.

• Is there internet connectivity at the retreat facility?

The retreat center has limited internet connectivity to encourage attendees to take the opportunity to embrace nature and enjoy quality time with family and friends at the retreat.  We ask that you reserve using your electronic devices for emergencies only so that you can fully benefit the Retreat of Awakening program.  

• In case my family needs to reach me and I do not have cellphone signal, what is an alternative number for them to call?

In case of emergencies where your family needs to get in touch with you while you are attending the retreat, please ask them to call the Retreat of Awakening's dedicated line:  (405) 308-8138.

• Who do I tell about my dietary requirements for meals?

All of our meals will be vegetarian.  If you have any dietary requirement, please include this information in the 'Special Requirements' box when you register. We will check with Ascend Camp & Retreat Center facility to see if they can accommodate your needs, and get back to you.

• I have a medical condition / I am on medication. Do I need to tell someone about this?

If you have a medical condition or are on medication that may be affected by this event and would like us to know, please include this information in the 'Special Requirements' box when you register. There is no obligation to do this, but it will help us be prepared for any special requirements you may have during the Retreat.

• Will I get a receipt of my donation for tax-filing purpose?

Yes, upon receiving your gift, we will either email or mail you a receipt.

• Can I be a volunteer for the organization?

• I cannot attend 2023 Retreat but would like to attend next year’s retreat. When and where is the 2024 Retreat?

We will promptly begin planning for the 2024 Retreat once the 2023 Retreat is over.  Please visit us on Facebook and our website often to receive the latest updates on our program, retreat center information, etc.

• Who can I contact to make arrangements for my family/friends to visit me for a short time while I am at the Retreat?

Due to liability and contractual obligations with the retreat center, the Retreat of Awakening must register every attendee and guest coming to the facility, even if the visitation is brief.
